Why Take the Google Adwords Exam

Why Take the Google Adwords Exam?

You certainly don't have to be a certified Google AdWords Professional to run an AdWords account successfully. But if part of your job or business involves managing someone else's AdWords account, then getting certified will prove you possess a high level of competence.

Becoming certified can mean the difference between getting a job at a Search Engine Marketing firm, gaining a new client, or being passed over for someone else who's taken the time to gain the certification.

In addition, AdWords is a complex advertising platform. By reviewing the material necessary to pass the Fundamentals exam, you'll learn more about using AdWords. At the very least, you'll learn about new features you may not have experience with.  Some of what you'll learn may also help you improve the performance of any AdWords campaigns you manage.

There really isn't a downside to getting an AdWords certification. The costs are fairly low (especially when compared to an actual college or university course that probably won't mean as much to clients or future employers). And by working through this guide, taking the workbook quizzes and the practice questions, you'll dramatically shorten the time it takes you to pass the Fundamentals exam.
In order to get the certification, you will need to pass the Advertising Fundamental exam along with one of the advanced AdWords exams.  You need to keep your certification current (by re-taking the exams) and stay within the terms and conditions of the certification program.

In order to become certified you'll need to start the process by signing up through the Google Partners program. Both individuals and companies can sign up through this newly launched program (the Google Partners program replaced the Google Certification Program in November of 2013).
